NOTICE: MARION KALMUS

Known today as a installation artist, Kalmus is also a world class forger. In a career spanning almost twenty years, Kalmus works have been mis-authenticated by, and placed in collections and Museums worldwide. In return for immunity from prosecution, Kalmus has agreed to reveal which works in the V&A Collection are in fact Kalmus ‘originals’

As part of the agreement between the Museum and the artist, Kalmus has consented that Museum will display private documentations of the construction of the V&A fakes, including extraordinary film footage of the production of ‘Petrarch’s Laura’. These documentations will be available for viewing in the Twentieth Century Gallery, and the Kalmus forgeries will remain in situ in galleries 50a, 46, 403 & 421 until January 12th 2003.
